History

Intent

  • An excellent knowledge and understanding of people, events and contexts from a range of historical periods and of historical concepts.
  • A passion for history and an enthusiastic engagement in learning, which develops curiosity, the ability to think, reflect, debate, discuss and evaluation the past.
  • The ability to think critically about history and communicate ideas very confidently.
  • A respect for historical evidence and ability to use this to support their explanations and judgments.

Implementation

  • We use a variety of long term topics to link to our carefully planned and tailored curriculum.
  • Planning is differentiated by year group in our mixed aged classes linking to the consolidation of English and maths objectives.
  • Specific vocabulary teaching within lessons and developed through the specific knowledge organisers.
  • Speech and language opportunities supported through regular drama.
