Our Curriculum

At Foston Primary School we believe our curriculum should inspire, excite, motivate and challenge our children to develop a love of learning, beyond that of the classroom.  Through it we wish to ensure a rigorous learning of new skills whilst giving children the opportunity to build upon, develop and apply what they already know to a range of different contexts.

Our curriculum has a creative approach to learning, is based upon the national curriculum and is taught through themes which change through the year. The themes are linked to ensure coverage of the national curriculum but also the children’s interests as well as current and world affairs, historical events, science and nature, and health. We seek to meet all children’s learning styles and promote cross curricular learning to help reinforce children’s basic skills in English and Mathematics.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Our early years is made up of nursery and reception children. In September 2015 we lowered the age range to 3 years and can accept children from their third birthday.

In EYFS the children learn through play in the indoor and outdoor areas. Purposeful stimulating learning opportunities are planned weekly by Miss Stringer and Mrs Bailey.
