What is the parent forum?

When parents are involved in their child’s learning and in the life of the school, children achieve higher and have improved outcomes. This is taken from a growing body of research. Parental involvement is a key factor for school improvement.

The parent forum is a partnership between parents and the school. It is a valuable way to share ideas, views, concerns and make suggestions for improvements and contributions into decision making which helps to improve children’s learning and education.

The aim of the parent forum is to:

Work together to improve the education provided for our children.

Share information, knowledge, skills and to further improve communication between parents, carers and staff.

Who can be part of the parent forum?

Any parent is welcome to join the Parent Forum meetings. The forum will be chaired by Mrs Bailey.  Mrs Moore the head teacher will also be in attendance alongside available teaching staff.

Why should I be part of the parent forum?

It provides you with an opportunity to get together on a regular basis with other parents and staff; to have your input on what the school is doing well and to suggest ideas of how things could be improved. There will be opportunities for parents to gain advice and support on how to help and support your child/ren through staff led presentations and discussions.

How often will the parent forum meet?

We aim to meet every term.

Code of conduct:

We want to ensure that we maintain a positive and respectful environment and would therefore like those who attend the meetings to abide by the following code of conduct:

  • Listen to others’ views and welcome diversity of opinions.

  • Treat speakers with respect.

  • Act courteously.

  • Contribute and participate.

  • Avoid naming individual members of the school community.

  • All participants act in an honorable manner.

How will parents be kept informed of developments between forum meetings?

Minutes of the meetings will be taken throughout. These will then be written up and published on the parent forum page of the website. These will also be emailed to parents. Any developments will be notified in the usual way, email, website and newsletters. We will also feedback on the progress made at the next meeting.

How will we move forward with the outcomes after the meetings?

The head teacher and staff will discuss and plan ways forward based on the outcomes of the meetings. These will also be shared with the governing board. A progress review will be shared at the next meeting.
