Key Stage 1

This term our topic is ‘AARGH You Ready for an Adventure?’  In English the children will be looking at pirate stories with repeated patterns and instructions. When reading at home you could look out for patterns within stories or see if you can find instructions around your house. In maths our focus is place value (number work) and addition. On our website we have the year group expectations if you wish to practise skills at home.  Please also look in your child's planner to find their targets to practise at home and also weekly updates on what we are covering each week in lessons.  Our topic work began with a Pirate Day at Foston! During the topic we will be looking at the famous explorers Captain Cook and Christopher Columbus. We will also be finding out about their journeys around the world. In science we will be investigating materials and creating boats. In PE the focus is balance, coordination and agility. KS1 and KS2 will have PE together every Thursday. Spellings are tested every Thursday. Please can homework be handed in by Wednesday.
