Sports Funding

The Government has committed to spending £750 million on improving physical education and sport in primary schools between now and the 2020 Olympics.

This funding has been given directly to schools. At Foston we have received roughly £8000. Below is an outline of how we have spent the funding in the first year:

  • Sports club

  • Partnership work with Malton Secondary School

  • Participation in sports events organised by Malton Secondary School

  • Transport to the swimming pool for lessons

  • Skipping workshops for staff and pupils

  • Workshops and sessions run by professional coaches, such as Tennis

Having assessed the impact of the funding, we have reassessed the priorities. In this academic year we are looking to spend money on the following:

  • Transport again for swimming lessons

  • Purchasing of PE resources linked with the School’s Long Term Teaching Plan for PE

  • Transport to Sports Events organised through a new Small School’s Cluster for PE Events

  • Professional Development Opportunities for Teaching Assistants working alongside an experienced coach from a company called Total Sports

  • Professional Development for staff as requested to meet their needs
